E-Books and audiobooks for adults and children

Why spend money on e-books for your Kindle or Nook when you can borrow thousands of titles from the library for free? With Overdrive, you can use your library card to download up to three e-book or audiobook titles at a time to your desktop, e-reader, tablet or other mobile device. Free Driver Education Program
Brewster Public Library is now offering a free program to provide assistance to those who are in the process of obtaining a New York State driver’s licence. This program includes the following state-specific information:

  • 11 car practice tests
  • 6 motorcycle practice tests
  • 3 CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) practice tests
  • 3 online driver’s manuals (car, motorcycle, CDL)
  • An FAQ section with detailed answers to 100+ DMV-related questions

Roku devices

The Brewster Library has Roku streaming media players available for patrons to borrow. With Roku, you can enjoy popular movies, TV shows, music, games and more on your TV by streaming directly from the Internet. Roku players connect directly to your TV and to your high-speed Internet service via your home network. You can choose to borrow a Roku 2 or a Roku 3. Roku players are available to all Mid-Hudson library card holders, but the device can only be picked up and returned at the Brewster Public Library. Museum passes

Museum passes provide free or reduced admission to library cardholders, through the generosity of our Friends group. Click here for a list of passes we offer, or call the library to reserve a pass.

Garmin GPS

Are you taking a road trip but don’t want to purchase a costly GPS? Would you like to try one of these devices before committing to buy? Patrons with a valid library card may borrow our Garmin GPS. This device must be picked up and returned to the Brewster Library. Please call 845-279-6421 for more information.

Book Club in a Bag

The MHLS Book Club in a Bag program has never been easier to access. Visit http://bcb.midhudson.org/ for a complete listing of titles, to browse or reserve kits, download discussion questions and access Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the program. A book club kit contains: 10 copies of a book title; discussion questions; discussion leader tips; and a book sign-up sheet – to help you keep track of the books!
